Food-Grade Calcium Gluconate

Food-grade calcium gluconate,is an organic calcium salt made by neutralizing gluconic acid with calcium carbonate. It appears as white crystalline powder or granules, odorless with a mild faint sweet taste, easily soluble in hot water and slightly soluble in cold water. Compared with inorganic calcium sources (calcium carbonate, calcium chloride), it has low irritation to gastrointestinal tracts, no bitter metallic aftertaste, and excellent compatibility with proteins, fruit acids and vitamins.

Solution: Main Feed Applications & Recommended Dosage

Core Functions
1. High-safety calcium fortification
Supplies absorbable elemental calcium to prevent calcium deficiency, promote bone and tooth development for children, adolescents, pregnant women and the elderly, relieve osteoporosis risk. Its mild property minimizes stomach bloating, constipation and acid reflux common with inorganic calcium.
2. Texture stabilizer & coagulant
Regulate food pH and cross-link protein molecules to improve the texture of tofu, jelly, pudding, dairy desserts and plant protein drinks; maintain smooth shape without hard lumps.
3. Firming agent for fruits and vegetables
Maintain crisp texture of canned fruits, pickles and preserved fruits during sterilization and long-term storage, prevent soft rot.
4. Acidity buffer and flavor modifier
Gentle buffering capacity balances sourness in beverages and confectionery, covering harsh acid tastes to deliver a soft, palatable flavor.
5. Antioxidant auxiliary agent
Synergize with antioxidants to slow discoloration of fruits and baked goods.

Main Application Fields
-Nutritional supplements: Calcium tablets, oral liquids, powder premixes, infant nutrition foods
-Dairy & plant protein products: Milk powder, yogurt, soy milk, cheese, pudding
-Canned food & preserved fruits: Canned peaches, pears, pickles, fruit preserves
-Bakery & confectionery: Calcium-enriched biscuits, candy, jelly, marshmallow
-Functional beverages: Calcium-fortified fruit juice, sports drinks, solid beverage powder

Recommended Dosage
Calcium gluconate contains approximately 9% elemental calcium. All dosages below refer to the weight of finished products, following global food fortification regulations.

2.1 Human oral health supplements (daily intake)
Calculation rule: Calcium gluconate mass = Target elemental calcium ÷ 0.09
-Infants (0–1 year): 200–300 mg elemental calcium daily
Corresponding calcium gluconate: 2222.22–3333.33 mg
-Children (1–10 years): 400–800 mg elemental calcium daily
Corresponding calcium gluconate: 4444.44–8888.89 mg
-Teenagers & adults: 800–1000 mg elemental calcium daily
Corresponding calcium gluconate: 8888.89–11111.11 mg
-Pregnant & lactating women: 1000–1200 mg elemental calcium daily
Daily tolerable upper limit for adults: 2000 mg elemental calcium (≈22.22 g calcium gluconate)

2.2 Food fortification dosage (per kg finished food)
-Infant formula & milk powder: 1–5 g/kg
-Yogurt, liquid milk, plant protein drinks: 0.5–3 g/kg
-Biscuits, cereal bars, baked food: 1–4 g/kg
-Jelly, pudding, soft candy: 0.8–3.5 g/kg
-Canned fruits and vegetables (firming use): 0.3–1.2 g/kg
-Solid functional beverage powder: 2–6 g/kg

Usage Precautions
Dissolve in warm water fully before adding to liquid food to avoid uneven precipitation.
Store in cool, dry sealed packaging to avoid moisture absorption and caking.
Do not combine with high oxalic acid raw materials (spinach, cocoa) excessively, as oxalate will reduce calcium absorption.
For food production, comply with local regulatory limits; excessive dosage may bring mild chalky taste.
